چکیده

The aim of the present study was to investigate the expression levels of estrogen receptor (ER) α and β and human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (Her-2), as well as the distribution of breast cancer molecular subtypes in Uygur and Han breast cancer patients. Cancer tissues were collected and analyzed from 709 breast cancer patients enrolled between January 2000 and December 2010. The expression levels of ERα, ERβ and Her-2 were determined by immunohistochemistry. The differences in expression and molecular subtype distribution between Uygur and Han patients with breast cancer were analyzed using a Pearson's χ2 test. Statistically significant differences were observed in the expression levels of ERβ, ERα and Her-2 between the Uygur and Han patients with breast cancer (P<0.05). The expression levels of ERβ (++), ERβ (+++) and Her-2 (+++) in Uygur patients were significantly higher, while the expression levels of ERα (+++) in Uygur patients were significantly lower when compared with Han patients. The percentage of luminal A type breast cancer in Uygur patients was significantly lower when compared with the Han patients, whereas the percentages of basal-like and Her-2 overexpression types were significantly higher than those in Han patients (P<0.05). Therefore, expression levels of ERβ, ERα and Her-2, and molecular subtypes of breast cancer were significantly different between the Uygur and Han populations.

Significance of ERβ expression in different molecular subtypes of breast cancer

PURPOSE This study is to investigate the estrogen receptor β (ERβ) expression in molecular subtypes of breast cancer and clinic significance of ERβ expression. METHOD The ERβ expression was detected in 730 cases of breast cancer tissue specimens by immunohistochemistry. Twenty-one patients were censored during 2-10 years follow-up. The difference in ERβ expression was analyzed by Pearson Chi-...

Breast cancer molecular subtypes of Uygur and Han in Xinjiang of China.

PURPOSE To compare the difference between Uygur and Han patients with breast cancer in molecular subtype. METHODS 4 immunohistochemical (IHC) markers (ER, PR, HER-2 and KI-67) were used to divide Uygur and Han breast cancer patients into 4 subtypes (Luminal A, Luminal B, HER-2 over expression and Basal-like), respectively. statistical analysis were used to evaluate difference in molecular sub...

Total antioxidant status in plasma of breast cancer patients in relation to ERβ expression

AIM OF THE STUDY The aim of this pilot study was to evaluate the plasma total antioxidant capacity (TAS) in breast cancer patients in relation to ERβ expression. MATERIAL AND METHODS The study group consisted of newly diagnosed consecutive female breast cancer patients (n = 41) and controls (n = 28) randomly selected from women with benign breast disease. TAS was determined with the ABTS reag...

Relation between Estrogen and Progesterone Receptor Status with p53, Ki67 and Her-2 Markers in Patients with Breast Cancer

Background: Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women, containing approximately one third of all illnesses in women. Assessment of molecular markers is valuable in predicting the outcome of disease and decision making for optimal treatment. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between estrogen and progesterone receptors with Her-2, Ki67, P53, and clinicopathologica...

Effect of Silibinin on Maspin and ERα Gene Expression in MCF-7 Human Breast Cancer Cell Line

Background and objective: According to reports, a serine protease inhibitor (Maspin) suppresses metastasis, invasion and angiogenesis in breast and prostate cancers. Silibinin is a natural polyphenolic flavonoid with anti-cancer activity. We assessed the effects of silibinin on cell viability, maspin and ERα gene expression in MCF-7 cell line. <s...
